Light and image projections, Laser cut text on found paper (22 sheets, approx. A4 size)
The installation transforms the entire space into a dynamic, surreal, outer space-like location. The sheets with laser-cut text hang precariously, turning with the slightest movement of the visitors or their breath. The negative space on the sheets and the continuously changing background obliterates or reveals the text, depending on the viewer’s angle. It is there and not there at the same time. The viewer thus has the option of reading the text or merely looking through the work – just as one chooses to see or not in real life.
The work, consists of a complex setup of multiple light and image projections and 22 sheets of found paper (that Parvez had inadvertently collected over more than a decade) and later impregnated with a laser cut text in 2014, before moving from India to Switzerland.
The text was originally penned for the film Flight 208 in 2005 when Parvez had travelled to Ecuador.
Note on Installation:
This is a site-specific installation which adapts its form to the space.
